Uri has taught in some of Britain leading drama schools as well as in New York, Amsterdam, Madrid and Tel-Aviv. He works as an acting coach at the BBC and has worked as a coach for a number of companies including five years with Graeae Theatre company. With Tottering Bipeds he developed “The Outcast in Theatre” workshop, a laboratory allowing participants to penetrate their own forbidden areas of performance whilst also enabling them to explore the notion that theatre is a space which transforms the "outcast". He is a member of staff at East15 in London where he designed and leads the Contemporary Acting Course - a unique 3 year BA programme, successful not only as an inovative training but also as a creative hub producing new theatrical work that transfers directly into the industry. “I will always see East 15 as the place where it all went right... The course is led by Uri Roodner and with no shame at all I put every single success I have had, and may have in the future on this man, and the Contemporary Acting course he leads. Thank you doesn't cut it.” John McKeever, winner 'Best Actor' Spotlight Award 2009. Through his work at East15 Uri champion and lead an emerging methodology of actor training that focuses on developing the actor as a creative and entrepreneurial ‘artist’. This is in contrast to the more traditional British training. “The course has been developed and lead by an inspirational course leade... the thinking and delivery of the course is admirable... with an openness and innovation.” ‘National Council for Drama Training’ (NCDT) acreditation report 2009 Uri’s own training is extensive, embracing Stanislavski based and British classical theatre methodology through to corporal mime, contemporary dance and European physical theatre. The list of inspirations includes Neil Kaplan, Philippe Gaulier, Monika Pagneux, Desmond Jones, Ken Campbell, Kazuo Onno and Erica Mustaki amongst the many others.
